Back from my long-awaited prata outing. Almost a flop because the supposed prata shop is like no prata. Haha, things changed after like hmmm 3 years? Hahaha so went to prata place with liang deon aloo jason marcus stu zuanfa. Yaofeng you pang seh us, better remember this! Now I'm so full, shall wait a while before I sleep.
Okay shall leave the serious stuff at the back. Zuanfa is so funny lah. Meroy takes an interest in him. LOL. Whole night let me and stu suan. Nice guy lah, but everything see him must be running away from something. Just like the SFW night when he was running away from some fight. Kids. Meroy is like so scary lah. The message is definitely disturbing if I'm zuan, I'm waiting for the right person haha not necessarily a girl. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good luck friend. And the whole journey to potong pasir is so funny. Kept bullying liangshi. Hahaha, playing all those response games. You know, liang the retarded child. Haha.
Alright that aside. Today's master class is cool. Much better than the one at SAS. Matthew taught simple jazz stuff. Like arpeggios and bending of notes. And then there's the bari guy, can't remember his name that taught the altissimo notes. Okay, the jazz one is not tooooo tough but the altissimo, I tried on sop sax, wohwohwoh, I can only go one octave higher. Coincidentally I was practising it the other day. Like one octave is the furthest I can go at the moment. I'm very impressed by QYO and SPS horn section today. They're really very good. I was quite disappointed with stpats performance though. Expected much better but the brass was just not there, especially the cornets. I expected a much cleaner version of Hanover Festival but aww, SAJC still did a better job 2 years back. But the piece is really wonderful. I love it so much. One thing about the stpats version is that the main melody part, it's horn dominated as compared to the original recording which I always thought was more of clarinet. Well why am I not surprised since christopher is in the section. Aww SAS and SPS are both playing SAJC-famous pieces for competition, 7th Night of July and Hanover Festival respectively. For SAJC ourselves, still not known. Toccata to Merry Widow to Jubliant to uncertain, not comfirmed.
But I feel very pleased today when I heard the QYO play. It just reminded me why am I in band, why do I enjoy music-making. Music makes you feel so much, it's like exploring a mental world. You can imagine anything at all at the pace of the music. When I was listening to Hanover when QYO and SPS played together, my hair just stood. It's really so cool. I know it's not the best yet but the effects of music is just present. Then again, it made me depressed because I know my tone is just not there. Talked to catherine from the QYO about my tone and section, actually she's from clarinet, there's just no shortcut. Just sectionals. But that's not the point, it's like I know the problem but I don't know the solution. Oh man, I'm trying very hard to remember Joshua's tone. Boo. Music technically is about listening, right? Okay, tomorow is gonna be a better day.
